Trevor Wesley "Why"
Dir. J.B. Adkins
DP- Jess Dunlap
Prod. Co. Revel
Purpose: To invoke the emotion of the audience by featuring Trevor Wesley at his most organic state of emotional intelligence as portrayed through the lyrics and melody of the song.
 |
| Feature Trevor on strings at approximately this medium tight shot. |
The Look- This particular piece requires the most sentimental and drab/opaque colors in an effort to capture the mood. An olive drab/green filter will be applied throughout the video to give it that overall feel of worry and wonder in the atmosphere. Slow dollys and extremely precise camera movements will be applied throughout as well as myriad moments featuring Trevor and his love interest at extreme close-ups of integral sensual organs including ears, eyes, lips, nose, hands. All of these elements will subliminally remind the viewer of what love encompasses, however great or worse, as well as provide an almost 3-d element to the audience as if to make one feel as if he or she were actually experiencing the emotion themselves. This is how visually encaptivating this piece must be.

Random words etching out the lyrics will be featured throughout various elements i.e. refrigerator magnets, notebook etchings, bottles, signs, magazines etc. Trevor also featured on the strings throughout some performance scene(s).
 |
| Words scrambled throughout video to mach lyrics. Found in random objects including bottle. |
 |
| Bottle will read "Trevor Wesley, "Why" |
The Vibe- Moody! The mood cannot and should not in any way portray an air of happiness. Sadness, for that matter, can be done away with as well. We want to visually capture the question, "Why?" Wonder is the primary essence of the song which gives us all the more reason to have the audience wondering why the video is the way that it is. This leaves us ample room for experimentation with various elements throughout. A few of the elements we will incorporate revolve around the use of words and phrases at seemingly random places throughout. Dreamy almost surreal like state. This is what the world of wonder looks like.
The Video- We open the piece with a quarter filled bottle of Rum, Label reads, "Trevor Wesley, Why" along with all of the other intricacies that an alcoholic beverage label would normally possess. We constantly feature Trevor and his love interest in various states of emotional resilience. At one moment we see the two kissing and building up to intimacy and the next the duo are fighting, arguing and bickering. All of the narrative scenes are shot in slow motion as we go back through time and experience the couple's various stages of relational maturity. We also feature Trevor walking backwards through the entire video as the slow motion narrative seems to move forward. Trevor seems to be transformed by the various scenes as he realizes the impending answer to his own question of why he really is "alone tonight."
Pay attention to color correction in house scenes with Wiz-This is the precise greenish color correction that I'm referring to

| Moody color correction adds to element of wonder. |
Execution- The Canon 5d Mark II will be the primary camera throughout the video with the exception of the slow motion narrative scenes being shot with the 7d due to its variable frame rates. Kino flos with green and blue filters + diffusion will suffice for lighting along with some natural daylight. Also, due to confined space for many of the indoor scenes, a slider will be appropriate for the majority of the smooth dolly shots. We can go handheld on some of the more gritty close-ups involving the senses and words.
